
Microsoft recently announced it has sold over 25 million licenses of the Windows 7 operating system in the 29 days since June 23. That's a selling rate of about 10 copies of Windows 7 each second over the last month.
Windows 7 has sold over 175 million licenses to date and is easily the fastest selling operating system ever. It now runs on more than 15% of all PCs worldwide.
The very strong sales of Windows 7 and the introduction of Office 2010 pushed Microsoft's second quarter revenues to $16 billion — a 22% higher than the same quarter in 2009. Windows revenue increased by more than $1 billion, up to $4.55 billion, according to the company.
Windows 7 has by far exceeded sales of its predecessor – Vista- which took 22 months to reach the same sales levels Windows 7 has.
