Revenues: Microsoft Beats Apple This Year!

Microsoft reported in its quarterly earnings that they have made revenues of about $16.04 billion — exceeding Wall Street estimates and up by 22 percent year over year.

This makes Microsoft about $300 million in front of Apple, so Cupertino will have to wait another quarter to surpass Microsoft on the revenue front.

Microsoft also made profits of about $4.52 billion for the quarter, far beyond Apple's $3.25 billion. This means Redmon is still making more money. This is due to the fact that a large portion of Microsoft's business is in software, where profit margins are much higher.

Microsoft's move to cloud services is well underway with offerings like Windows Azure and the Business Productivity Online Services. Also soon to be launched are Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Kinect.

Microsoft has also reported selling 175 million Windows 7 licenses. Its Bing search product has also gained search share for the 13th consecutive month.
