Green power is a hot subject at the moment. I don't understand why it is hot right now, because in my opinion it should have been hot years ago. But apparently it is now. The consequences hereof are interesting though, because the hardware manufacturers are suddenly designing different hardware, all looking eagerly at the most efficient processors and mainboards, in order to get the most orders from the bigger companies amongst us that have decided their datacenters have to be green.

This also results in programmers looking closer at their code - maybe a different way of programming could lead to less power consumption ?

This is an interesting development. Will the race between MS and Linux now be about power consumption ? Or will this be a serious attempt to lower power consumption ? Only time can tell, I'm afraid.
