Google to secure the net

Google appears to be readying a plan to police the web. If the plan goes forward, Google will use new software to automatically identify compromised web pages in its database and label them as "potentially harmful" in its search results. Because being labeled as suspicious by Google could devastate a site's traffic, the move would raise the security stakes for site owners dramatically. (Rough Type)
If this is true, we will probably benefit from it. Why ? Most of the people buying a computer by a pc running Microsoft's Windows. Microsoft doesn't care about helping out their customers in any way, and they have succesfully created a huge network of wide-open computers (the internet) that can easily be attacked and abused by anyone with a little intelligence on the subject.

So who's going to protect us ? The government ? They think voip is a new brand in cornflakes, so we can forget about them. So why not Google ? They already have extensive knowledge of the web. I think this could be a positive thing.
