Google to launch Mobile Network in UK
Filed in archive Business News on May 21, 2007
, Google is to become a virtual network provider in the UK for mobile phones. Iteresting, as I wonder if they will release the GPhone in the wild as well. It is almost certain that they will strik a deal with O2 for the network. We're hearing that there will be no physical stores for the service, and that signups and customer service will be provided exclusively via a website. A number of Nokia handsets will be offered, all pre-loaded with Google Mobile software.
I cant wait to see them. But unfortunately, yet fortunately, I don't live in the UK. In the netherlands, where I live, the only network allowing virtual providers is Telfort. A number of brands and companies play mobile provider by making use of Telfort's network. Strange enough, Telfort was recently bought by KPN, the largest mobile phone provider in the Netherlands. So their virtual providers will become, ehh, virtually virtual ?? How do you say that ? Mega-virtual ? Turbo-virtual ?
